“Every society needs educated people, but the primary responsibility of educated people is to bring wisdom back into the community and make it available to others so that the lives they are leading make sense.”

Teaching Philosophy
Education should be practical and accessible. It should be a tool used for liberation.
I approach teaching from an anti-colonial perspective informed by my own experiences and engage in regular discussions with students, colleagues, & communities to improve lesson materials. Unlike some teachers, I update lesson plans each semester to keep materials salient and more interesting for students.
As a rhetorician, I believe education should provide students with the interpersonal, professional, and critical communication skills necessary to better understand themselves, develop a personal ethos, and feel confident deconstructing situational discourse to self-advocate or achieve their ends.
